Dear Friend,
How is the first month of 2010 going for you?
My heart is heavy for the people in Haiti and for those who are experiencing loss because of Haiti's devastation. To give back I'm donating all profits from book sales during the next month to the American Red Cross. Purchase a personalized copy to help yourself and to help others.
Week 1 - Establishing 2010 Goals:
  • What one change would you like to see yourself make? And what is it going to take to get there?
  • What is one goal that might seem unattainable now, but with hard work you believe you can achieve it?
  • What is one thing, outside of yourself, you want to focus on this year?
  • What impact would you like to make on those around you - family, friends and community?
Week 2 - Releasing FEAR:
  • Release your F.E.A.R.'s - False Expectations Appearing Real
  • What are your goals?
  • How do your F.E.A.R.'s prevent you from achieving your goals?
  • What are the costs of not achieving your goals?
Week 3 - Making Change:
  • To make a change, start small.
  • Take normal routines and do them differently - drive to work a different way, do your grocery shopping at a different store.
  • Make small changes to impact larger changes!
As your coach I want to encourage you to dream wildly, love wholeheartedly, persevere relentlessly, believe in yourself unwaveringly and give abundantly!
If you are new this week...welcome...let's make 2010 your best year yet! For a recap of what we've covered during January see above or visit the archives. In February we will move on to loving yourself, self confidence and loving others.

  • This Week's Topic: The if in Your Life
    Dear Friend,

"The way to activate the seeds of your creation is by making choices about the results you want to create. When you make a choice, you activate vast human energies and resources, which otherwise go untapped." ~Robert Fritz

This week I want to turn our focus to the choices in your life. L - if - e. The if in life represents the choices we make to create the life we want.

Often part of reaching new goals requires us to make new decisions about our life. We must let go of past habits and create new ones. This requires an intentionality and deliberate choice on our part. This is also one of the blessings of life that we have a choice and that our lives can be shaped by our choices.

In order to take ownership for our life we must also recognize that each choice we make, even when we fail to make a choice is also our responsibility.

This week I want you to think about every if in your life as a choice...a choice to follow a dream, to hear your heart, to listen to your inner-voice, to follow through on your goals, or even to risk failure by taking a chance.

Each choice we face helps to shape us and serves to mold our life. Remember, it takes courage to powerfully choose your path.

    Make It Happen

Review the goals you set forth in week 1. Are you working towards these goals already? If so - you've chosen. If not - you've also chosen.

If you aren't working towards your 2010 goals review your goals and ensure they are authentic and inspiring. Consider that if you haven't begun to work on your 2010 goals maybe they aren't the right goals for you?

By facing the if in life you powerfully choose to embrace your magnificence. When you tap into the power of your choices you connect with your ability to create the life you desire.

May you be blessed for you are a blessing!

"What Money Has Taught Me About Personal Power"

In September 2009's O Magazine Suze Orman shares the great many lessons money has taught her. I think we can all learn something from these...
    1) Power comes from who you are, now what you have
    2) Money has no power of its own
    3) Self-Worth builds net worth
    4) Do what's right, not what's easy
    5) Ignorance is not bliss where money is concerned
    6) How you respect your possessions says a lot about how you respect yourself
    Her article ends with,
"Take the time to learn the lessons that your money can teach you, and you will be on the path to building lasting and gratifying internal power."

This Week's Topic: Want Change? Cause It!
    Dear Friend,

"The future is not a result of choices among alternative paths offered by the present, but a place that is created--created first in the mind and will, created next in activity. The future is not some place we are going to, but one we are creating. The paths are not to be found, but made, and the activity of making them, changes both the maker and the destination."

    ~John Schaar

Is there something in your life that you would like to change, but you're having trouble taking action? The answer ... start small.

Several weeks ago, I was chatting with a dear friend who listed several changes she wants in her life. The changes included new friends, a new perspective, and surmounting past demons that seemed to impact every area of her life. After a discussion on why she wants these changes, I asked, "Can I go from friend to coach for thirty seconds?" A little hesitant she said, "Well, sure...go ahead."

My words to her started like this...

Wow, it sounds like you've got some really big changes planned! And I understand that right now some of these changes seem beyond your control and that is frustrating and perhaps even paralyzing.

If you want to make big changes and are having trouble starting, pick one area of your life where you can impact change. Select something small and tangible ... a closet, your bedroom, the silverware drawer. Use that small area as a springboard for larger change. As you begin small changes life will begin to flow for you.

I believe to make a change is the hardest thing to do, but once you start making an impact in small areas of your life it gives you the confidence and foundation to make larger changes. When we start too big and lofty it is easy to become discouraged.

    Make It Happen

This week choose to work on something small, something manageable...select change you know you can cause, that won't defeat you! Start small ... pick something tangible and watch the flow of your life begin to change.

Remember we create our own paths and taking action of any size creates our future.

May you be blessed for you are a blessing!

    Let Go of Limitations

    Dear Friend,
I hope you had a great first full week of 2010! How did the four questions go last week?
    • What one change would you like to see yourself make? And what is it going to take to get there?
    • What is one goal that might seem unattainable now, but with hard work you believe you can achieve it?
    • What is one thing, outside of yourself, you want to focus on this year?
    • What impact would you like to make on those around you - family, friends and community?
    As
I mentioned my goal as your coach this year is twofold:
    • Support you in changing yourself so that you can change the world around you.
    • Help you answer the question, "Just who am I destined to be?"
As your coach I want to encourage you to dream wildly, love wholeheartedly, persevere relentlessly, believe in yourself unwaveringly and give abundantly!
If you are new this week...welcome...let's make 2010 your best year yet! During January we will focus on playing to your strengths, releasing fear and fleshing out your 2010 goals. In February we will move on to your love life...and on from there.
    God Bless,
    Margaret.
This Week's Topic: Let Go of Limitations
    Dear Friend,

    "We love our limitations!

We must, because we certainly don't want to let them go"

    ~Jinny Ditzler

By definition a limitation is, "something that limits." When we let go of what limits us we create a new possibility. This new possibility represents our future.

Being stuck in old habits and beliefs prevents us from moving forward and realizing new goals and new ambitions! In order to reach the goals you established last week you may need to say good-bye to an old habit or routine -- a limitation.

For example, when we resist corporate change we can spend lots of energy gossiping about what is ahead rather than taking action. What if we accept - there will be change - and develop a couple of different plans for how to deal with the change? See the difference ... one is spinning our wheels on "what if" ... resisting "what is" and the other is creating action regardless of the outcome. The limiting belief in this example might be "change is bad" or "fear of change."
This works in our personal life, too. When we want so badly to make a change we need to realize the cost of not changing, let go of the fear and take action. Really, what is F.E.A.R? It is False Expectations Appearing Real! Like noise in a dark room...is it a monster or the air flowing through the ducts? It is easy to be stuck in the past when we don't realize the cost of our limitations. What if the cost of being afraid of the dark meant that you never got sleep? That would be a pretty high price!

In releasing F.E.A.R. we let go of limitations and lack, and step into abundance. As we step into abundance we are free to manifest our dreams and desires and achieve our goals.

    Make It Happen

This week face your F.E.A.R. - head on - and walk past it. Release the limitations of the past and feel light and free. Use the exercise below to help you identify your F.E.A.R's and the cost of those fears.

Take a sheet of computer paper, holding it horizontally; fold it into three equal sections. Label the columns as show below.

    Goals/Dreams/Aspirations

    F.E.A.R.

    Cost

    Write a book

    People will think I'm stupid

World doesn't get to hear my voice

    I don't have enough time

Feel like I failed without trying

    It won't be any good

    I can't publish it

    Run a Marathon

    I don't have enough time

    Never push myself physically

    I will injure myself

Feel like I failed without trying

If I lose weight then I'll gain it back fast

Notice for each dream how many F.E.A.R.'s we actually have! No wonder few of us ever accomplish that which we truly desire. This week examine each F.E.A.R. -- are they real? What is the cost of each F.E.A.R.? It is when we see the cost that we become motivated to let go of our limiting beliefs. Good luck this week...remember this is a process, be patient with yourself.

May you be blessed for you are a blessing!

    Dear Friend,
Welcome to 2010! I know this year is going to be a tremendous year for you. What I also know is that it is going to require some work on your part to stay disciplined, say yes to caring for you and passing on the blessing.
My goal this year is twofold:
    • Support you in changing yourself so that you can change the world around you.
    • Help you answer the question, "Just who am I destined to be?"
As your coach I want to encourage you to dream wildly, love wholeheartedly, persevere relentlessly, believe in yourself unwaveringly and give abundantly!
If you are new this week...welcome...let's begin the journey together!
    God Bless,
    Margaret.
This Week's Topic: Change the World Beginning with Yourself
    Dear Friend,
"If you had one shot, or one opportunity To seize everything you ever wanted-One moment Would you capture it or just let it slip?"
    ~Eminem
Change begins one person at a time. During the holiday week my husband and I saw The Blind Side base on the true story of Leigh Anne and Sean Tuohy and Michael Oher. The story first written by brilliant author Michael Lewis illustrates the impact we can have on one person. What is the phrase, "Love isn't love until you give it away?" That is true. (Read Lewis' story in the New York Times.)
Beginning with yourself, you can change the world one person at a time - and see the difference you can make in the lives of others. This year I want to help you change yourself so that you can change the world around you.
Let's begin this process by focusing on you.
    Change Yourself...
    • What one change would you like to see yourself make? And what is it going to take to get there?
Use your imagination...the sky is the limit...dream a little. Select one change large or small...that would greatly, enhance the quality of your life.
Then plan a lot...seriously consider...what is it really going to take - each day, each week, each month, each quarter - to get there?
    • What is one goal that might seem unattainable now, but with hard work you believe you can achieve it?
This is designed to be a reach goal...not about changing you, but about doing something new, learning a new skill...a goal that inspires you. Consider the following areas of your life: Love & Relationships, Health, Physical Environment, Work, Financial, Spiritual
...So that you can Change the World...
    • What is one thing, outside of yourself, you want to focus on this year?
Select something outside of yourself to focus on. It can be your family, friends, another family, hunger, literacy, peace, animals. Select something specific so that you can see your impact throughout 2010.
Next, select a theme, a phrase, a song or even picture that inspires you and keeps you invigorated towards this focus.
For example, if you want this year to be about your family and bringing your family together...you may select the theme song, "We Are Family" by Sister Sledge
    • What impact would you like to make on those around you - family, friends and community?
This goal has an intended result. Select one way you can make an impact. You may think...what can I really impact? The truth is you have tremendous power to impact anything you set your heart, mind and actions towards.
For example, If you want to encourage those around you to live a healthier lifestyle you may decide to organize a group of people to do a series of charity run/walks across your community.
Another example, if you want to stay fit and focus on animals in 2010 perhaps you become a Pet Pal at the Humane Society.
Select something that you want to impact, and go for it!
    Make it Happen
Change begins one person at a time. Change begins with a dream, an idea, a hunch. Change begins with you - on you, for you - so that you can take your work outside of you to the world around you.
May you be blessed for you are a blessing!
